The Birth of Nok Kingdom

Nok Kingdom was birthed from Ham People in 1500 BC. Ham people can be found in the Southern part of Kaduna State in the Northwestern region of Nigeria and some parts of Cameroon. They are also known as Jaba People who are related to ethnic groups such as Gwong, Anghan, Adara, Koro, Atyap, Jukun, Berom and Tiv. In 1499 years, Nok Kingdom has existed under three ruling families: House of Tiroa, the first ruling family of Nok Kingdom, House of Saghon and House of Maude, which is the current ruling family of Nok Kingdom.

1500BC

Nok Culture

In 1500 BC, the Ham people of Nok Kingdom discovered iron and developed the first iron smelting technology which moved the global society from the stone-age into the iron-age. This led to the development of an international industrialized civilization.

1974

A New King

King Jonathan Danladi Gyet Maude came into power in 1974 following his predecessor Kpop Dogo Saghon. King Jonathan is the Paramount traditional ruler of the Ham people.

2019

The Crowned Prince

In 2019, His Majesty, Jonathan Danladi Gyet Maude, King of Nok Kingdom, by Royal Decree Crowned Allen Ellison as Son of the Soil and Commander.

2022

Tir Hywiin Ham

In 2022, His Majesty, Jonathan Danladi Gyet Maude, King of the Nok Kingdom, by Royal Decree Crowned Dr. Chetachi Ecton, Tir Hywiin Ham, Princess of the Ham Land.
